The Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts

A first class Performance Hall placed in the Heart of the Hill Country

History of the Kathleen C. Cailloux Theater

Thanks to a generous gift from the Kathleen C. Cailloux family, and at their request,  Playhouse 2000 shifted its goals from building a new building on Water Street to joining forces with the City of Kerrville in the restoration and management of the old Municipal Auditorium in 2000. The project included a major face-lift of the 1960's auditorium, and improved sight lines and acoustics.  After the design process with architect Peter Lewis of Artisan Group, a large scale successful capital campaign was launched by Playhouse 2000 to raise the additional funds. Construction on the site began in December of 2001 and a Grand Opening with the San Antonio Symphony was held in late March of 2003. The facility still houses events  including: Kerrville Independent School District functions, Kerrville Performing Arts Society performances, Symphony of the Hills performances, City functions, private rentals as well as Playhouse 2000 productions. This exciting new project has brought great recognition to Kerrville and the Texas Hill Country.
